Why Advanced Home Services Installs Crusader Water Systems
We recommend Crusader water quality management systems, filters, purifiers, and ultraviolet disinfection systems because every model is easy to own and operate — and these commercial-grade systems are proudly made in the U.S.
Crusader Systems designs and manufactures efficient, reliable water quality systems for residential and commercial properties. Crusader technology is trusted by the U.S. government, large corporations, and homes like yours.
Crusader Water Quality Management Systems
Idaho’s hard water can irritate the skin, dry out hair, and create spots on dishes and plumbing fixtures. Crusader manufactures three tiers of top-of-the-line water softeners to reduce the headaches these issues create in your home.
If you installed your Crusader Water Quality Management System between 2016 and 2019, you likely have the Single-Tank Pro, Deluxe, or Enhanced Crusader 5800 or 5810. If you installed your water softener after 2019, you have a Crusader Pro, Crusader Deluxe, or Crusader Enhanced Water Quality Management System.
All Crusader models offer appliance protection from hard water, and the Crusader Deluxe and Crusader Enhanced models have customization options to fit your home’s specific needs, like:
- Sediment control
- Chlorine taste control
- Fluoride and sulfate enhancements
- And more
Frequently Asked Questions About Crusader Water Quality Management Systems
Advanced Home Services recommends and installs Crusader Water Quality Management Systems for homes with hard water because they make ongoing maintenance easy.
Here are answers to a few frequently asked questions to address common issues you might encounter. For more details, check out your system’s manual.
How often should I fill my brine tank with salt?
You should fill your brine tank with high-quality sodium or potassium salt once per month. Your Advanced Home Services technician will show you which brands are best to use during your installation. Be sure to keep the tank full of salt so your system regenerates properly.
What is ProGuard, and why do I need it?
ProGuard is used in every Crusader Water Softener model to keep your system running at the highest efficiency levels while keeping your water clean and safe. It doesn’t eliminate ongoing maintenance needs, but ProGuard creates an inhospitable environment for bacteria and helps to optimize efficiency.
Check the ProGuard feeder level each time you fill your brine tank (see page 10 of the manual).
How do I clean my water softener system?
Idaho Falls has hard water at 14 grains per gallon, so your system should be cleaned and disinfected every 12 months.
DIY cleaning and disinfection kits are available that you can use yourself. Be sure to wear gloves and avoid touching cleaning compounds with your bare hands. If you want to leave it to the professionals, call Advanced Home Services. We’ll dispatch a technician to clean and disinfect it for you.
What should I do if my water is ever discolored?
Turn on a cold bathtub faucet for about 10 to 15 minutes first. If it’s still discolored, start regeneration by pressing and holding the “REGEN” button.
If the issue persists after that, call Advanced Home Services.
Why does my system say the wrong time of day?
Your system’s clock is important because it informs the regeneration schedule. An incorrect time setting can occur after Daylight Savings Time or during an extended power outage.
We recommend surge protectors or Uninterruptible Power Supplies to protect your system and prevent the inconvenience caused by storms or power incidents.
To reset, press “clock,” set the hour and minutes with the arrows, then press “next” to return to normal operating mode.
What should I do if I see an error code?
Most error codes are resolved after your system completes its next regeneration cycle. If you’re still experiencing issues, call Advanced Home Services for assistance.
Crusader Ultraviolet Disinfection Systems
Even safe city water can still contain certain bacteria and viruses that aren’t monitored by public and governmental authorities. Crusader’s Ultraviolet Disinfection Systems are EPA-registered and third-party validated to kill these microorganisms and make your drinking water safe.
Ultraviolet disinfection is a chemical-free process, and Crusader models require low electrical consumption.
Frequently Asked Questions About Crusader Ultraviolet Disinfection Systems
Crusader Ultraviolet Disinfection Systems safely and efficiently kill bacteria and germs so that you can keep you and your family safe.
Below are answers to several frequently asked questions to help you keep your system well-maintained. For more details, see the owner’s manual.
Is the UV lamp on my system safe?
The UV lamp is the most powerful component in your system and requires caution.
Disconnect the power before you open your system, and don’t look directly at the lamp or expose your skin to it.
At what percentage of UV intensity does my system start to lose effectiveness?
On systems with UV intensity monitors, your system will display its UV intensity. A lamp with 65% to 100% intensity is necessary to function efficiently. Check your system for scaling or lamp/sensor failure if the intensity is lower.
On systems without an intensity monitor, an onboard calendar will let you know when it is time to change the lamp.
Why is my system chirping?
A chirping sound indicates your lamp is expired or your UV output is too low.
How often do I need to change my UV lamp?
You will need to change the lamp every 10,000 hours of use, which typically equates to once a year. Your system displays a countdown for easy tracking.
Call Advanced Home Services when your UV lamp nears expiration so we can install a replacement for no interruption in clean, UV-disinfected water.
How do I reset the lamp countdown?
After you’ve changed the lamp, press and hold the button on the front of the controller and plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Keep pressing the button until you hear a chirp. The screen will follow up with the message: “Lamp life reset.”
