Pleated Air Filters
Pleated air filters are significantly better performing that the panel type. They are made from woven polyester, and keep out smaller particles as a result. Pleated air filters must not be too efficient for your system though, as then you could unintentionally block airflow into your home.
Permanent Air Filters
If you have a permanent air filter, then you shouldn’t need to change it (unless it begins to develop mold or mildew). However, it does need to be cleaned on a regular basis to keep it free of clogs.
